Job Description:

The Office of New Student and Transition Programs is home to a core group of staff members dedicated to providing new students with engaging and meaningful experiences that support a students pathway to post-secondary education.   New Student and Transition Programs facilitates a variety of pre-college and incoming student initiatives including:

  • High School Early Admit Program (3-1-3)
  • Destination to a Dream (D2D) Admissions Program (Partnership with Jamestown Community College)
  • New Student Orientation Programs

KEY RESPONSBILITIES

  • Serve as program coordinator and communicator of the Destination to a Dream (D2D) pathway program for the Fredonia campus;
  • Develop and implement onboarding and transition process workflows and policy requirements for the D2D program;
  • Create engagement activities and success workshops on Fredonia's campus for D2D students residing at Fredonia or Jamestown Community College;
  • Manage program budget;
  • Assist D2D students in the seamless transfer process;
  • Support Director in ongoing initiatives for transfer students.
  • Be aware of, understand, and follow all campus policies. 

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution;
  • Three years of progressive work experience within a post-secondary environment with at least two years of demonstrated Admissions or Academic Advising work experience;
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a diverse, dynamic team of professionals;
  • Track record of effectively planning, organizing, and implementing events for a variety of audiences;
  • Demonstrated ability to build professional relationships across institution and in the community;
  • Experience working with variety of student populations (high school, first-year, and transfer students).
  • Ability to manage and operationalize budgets;
  • Experience creating content for publications and guides;
  • Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
  • Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of curriculum planning or academic advising;
  • Experience managing orientation or admission type activities;
  • Experience with Banner and OnCourse (or other learning information systems such as Blackboard or Moodle);
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish;
  • Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.

Additional Information:

This is a full-time, PIF supported, term appointed, permanent-track, UUP-represented position beginning May 2018.
