The Institute of Biomaterials & Biomedical Engineering ( at the University of Toronto invites applications for a tenure-stream appointment in the research areas of molecular, cellular and medical device engineering. The appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an expected start date of July 1, 2018, or soon thereafter.

We seek a candidate who can develop an outstanding, innovative, and independent research program in the broad areas of molecular, cellular, and medical device engineering. Candidates with expertise with manipulating molecules and nanoscale structures to alter cellular and/or tissues function and/or build devices for therapeutics and diagnostics purposes are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering or a related field by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. Applicants must provide evidence of excellence in research, and those with an emerging record of research excellence are encouraged to apply. Excellence in research is evidenced by a record of publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements by referees of high standing. Additionally, candidates must show excellence in teaching and demonstrate capacity to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Evidence of teaching excellence must be demonstrated in the teaching statement, the teaching dossier and teaching evaluations submitted as part of the application, as well as awards, accolades and strong letters of reference. Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in Ontario is strongly desirable.
