Assistant or Associate Professor - Counselor Education
The Department of Counseling and Human Services at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is seeking exceptional, experienced Assistant or Associate Professor candidates for a newly created tenure-track position in our CACREP accredited School Counseling Program. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Counselor Education and meet CACREP core faculty eligibility requirements. The successful candidate will teach CACREP core courses as well as school counseling specialty courses and will contribute to departmental activities that support military populations, rural mental health, and/or suicide prevention for youth.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with a diverse population of learners and support social justice advocacy within our program, our community, and the profession. Teaching experience at the college level is required. Candidates should have or be eligible for relevant counseling credentials. This is a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track position. Well qualified associate professor candidates may be considered for hiring with tenure.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of the ASCA National Model and be able to teach its use and functionality to school counselors-in-training, be a resource for program instructors and have thorough understanding of the application of CACREP accreditation standards. The successful candidate will possess strong teaching and counseling skills and be able to demonstrate various pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning, including the use of technology in and outside of the classroom (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.). In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate personal awareness related to the role of the counselor educator, including setting and maintaining appropriate boundaries and practicing appropriate self-care, serving as a role model for students, site supervisors, and adjunct faculty.

- Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision or a closely related field from a CACREP accredited institution with a school counseling emphasis
- Earned license in school counseling and eligible for licensure in Colorado
- Minimum of two years of full-time work experience at the rank of assistant professor or above
- Minimum of two years working as a school counselor in a K-12 setting
- Evidence of expertise in Counselor Education with an emphasis in school counseling
- Defined scholarly agenda
- Expertise in rural education
- Evidence of potential for securing external funds or scholarships through grants or contracts
