Accounting Technician

Primary Function of Organization Unit: The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Business Operations (CBO) processes Financial and Human Resources transactions for the College. Financial transactions include: vouchers, jv's, idt's requisitions, marketplace approval, PCard reconciliation's, personal reimbursements, receipts, check deposits, gift deposits, and University invoices. Most transactions are created and approved within the Business Center. The CBO provides oversight and fiscal monitoring for all funds (state/federal/trust and contract and grant).

Essential Job Duties: The primary purpose of this position is to process financial transactions, monitor work and workflow, resolve issues for CALS departments and administrative and support units in the college for state and federal appropriations, sponsored programs, sales and service, gifts, foundations and trust funds.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Department Required Skills: * Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel (or similar software) and basic accounting principles. * Ability to make sound decisions and manage time and workflow. * Ability to effectively communicate to individuals and groups to ensure understanding. * Demonstrated knowledge in compliance management for contracts and grants, knowledge of state and federal spending guidelines and gifts and foundations accounting. * Ability to work in a diverse team.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * Four year degree in business administration or accounting and one year of experience, two-year degree in business administration or accounting and three years of experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. * PeopleSoft Financials including WOLF Reports. * Prior management experience, especially managing diverse teams, is desired.
