Advertised Job Summary: The Executive Communications Specialist promotes the University of South Carolina and enhances the university's local, state and national reputation and image through the execution of the written, electronic and verbal communications and messaging of the university president and other senior administrators. Reporting to the Director, Executive Communications, the Specialist assists the Director in responding to diverse University matters through correspondence, research, reports, Web, electronic and print communications, and University and community forums; creating and executing a statewide Presidential community outreach program; and developing speeches, talking points, thought leadership pieces, including op-eds, letters to the editor, blog posts and other written and digital formats. This individual brings energy and enthusiasm to promoting and protecting the University of South Carolina brand, maintains awareness of state and national current events, and demonstrates the ability to recognize opportunities to engage at the intersection of the public discourse and higher education.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Bachelor's degree.
