Position Summary: The Principal Editor oversees editorial content strategy across multiple platforms and formats to drive audience engagement and ensure accuracy and organizational style. This individual serves as the resident expert in all things related to content planning, creation, editing and dissemination, as well as channel optimization. The manager uses a variety of media tools, channels and platforms to promote information and content and to maximize engagement with audiences. Other responsibilities include creation and maintenance of the UC Irvine Health content calendar, a content library, a database of facts and messaging. The position collaborates with Marketing & Communications content developers and departments throughout the institution to identify and generate relevant content and to ensure its accuracy.
The primary role of the Principal Editor is to think like a publisher/journalist, leading the development of content initiatives in all forms to engage audiences and build understanding of the impact of UC Irvine Health in research, education and patient care. This work involves developing a liaison function that connects marketing, communications, media, social public relations/media, and events to maximize efforts while allowing for increased planning and measurement of impact for initiatives of the team.
Rate Minimum $63,100.00 Maximum $107,200.00
Required Qualifications: 5-7 years in communications. Experience managing people.Ability to analyze data.Ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to coordinate projects.Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadAbility to troubleshoot and resolve problems.Ability to work collaboratively with writers.Adept at problem solving.Adherence to AP style.Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience in a related fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishExperience in designing, implementing, reporting and analyzing content communication strategies.Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobMust possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned dutiesSkilled writer, capable of news and feature writing.Superior oral and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
