The targeted salary may be set as high as $5,250 per month based on experience. The salary range for this classification is $3,897 to $6,453 per month.
Time Base/Hours/Units per Week
Full-time/40 hours per week.
Under the general direction of the Cashiering and Student Account Services Manager, the Cashier Supervisor is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the day-to-day activities in the Cashiering Office. The individual will be responsible for the supervision of all cashier staff and student assistants including participation in hiring and training and evaluation of staff; reviewing cash operations procedures and recommending changes as appropriate; and working closely with Enrollment Services and Satellite Cashiers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques of customer service, and provide direction and training to staff to facilitate effective and quality service to the campus community which includes interaction with students, other departments and their staff. Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize and coordinate the cashiering office workload which involves meeting the various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Thorough knowledge of financial record-keeping methods and a general knowledge of governmental financial record-keeping methods, procedures and practices in order to make sound judgments for the proper handling in resolving student problems and inquiries. This position requires thorough knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques, which includes the principles and practices of a banking operation. Thorough knowledge and expertise in investigating and analyzing problems and complexities associated with automated financial systems. Includes skills in the collection, evaluation and interpretation of data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Ability to investigate and analyze operational needs in order to write and develop procedures meeting the needs of the Main Cashiering Office and Satellite Offices, which meet State requirements. Ability to analyze office activities and identify problems that impact the Cashiers Office and other departments, and provide recommendations for resolution.
Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."
Education and Experience
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience required. At least three years supervisory experience including creating shift schedules in a customer service operation, preferably in a cashier department, strongly preferred.
Licenses / Certificates
CA Driver's License, Class C
