Job Description: 

The Department Chairperson provides academic leadership to the School of Engineering, Technology and Design, specifically to the faculty and courses in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering and Technology. The position serves as an integral member of the College and Campus administrative team. The Chairperson provides support and advice in the collective bargaining process and ensures adherence to relevant areas of any collective bargaining agreement.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:  

•Hires, Supervises and evaluates personnel
•Provides professional development opportunities for all employees in the department
•Ensures the effective implementation of the faculty advancement process and adheres to the collective bargaining agreement
•Implements student-centered instructional programs in the classroom and labs
•Ensures departmental compliance with SACS accreditation guidelines
•Develops semester course schedules and faculty assignments
•Provides program information and ensures the availability of advisement services for students
•Facilitates the resolution of issues and problems that may arise between faculty, staff and students
•Supports the work of the Resource Development office by preparing grant proposals

Minimum Requirements:

•Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or Building Construction and five (5) years of relevant experience
•All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
•Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
•Knowledge and understanding of a wide range of instructional systems development, training methods, techniques and formats
•Knowledge of the requirements of accreditation agencies
•Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
•Skill in budget preparation and management.
