Position Summary

The MSU College of Natural Science Dean’s Office seeks an experienced individual to join its Information Technology team. The successful candidate will maintain and assist in the development of the college’s core server and device management services. Configuration, maintenance and enhancement of servers and the network will make up the largest portion of this individual’s responsibilities. Key duties will include managing the college’s virtualized servers, storage system, database and website hosting environment, and the delivery of Group Policy and System Center Configuration Manager administration. Tasks such as implementation of security standards,compliance monitoring and policy management will be major components of daily operations. This individual will play a key role in creating and executing plans for advancing system architecture,and will also provide desktop support services in periods of high demand. Ability to work occasional nights and weekends to meet deadlines will be required.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

The desired qualifications for this position include knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of system administration; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in information technology related to Active Directory, Group Policy, System Center Configuration Manager, information security, firewall, Microsoft SQL, Windows server, Linux servers, working knowledge of Office 365, etc.; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
