Position Summary
The Michigan State University Office of Financial aid seeks a highly motivated individual to serve as a Financial Aid Assistant. The successful candidate may: assist in analyzing family and student financial and demographic data to determine eligibility for financial aid; resolve compound financial aid issues, revise aid and inform students of the action taken; serve as a resource to other professional and clerical staff; participate in development of system performance by identifying problems and recommending changes, review guidelines, procedures, current literature and attend professional meetings related to processing and delivering financial aid under close supervision.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/SkillsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial aid and ability to understand, apply and interpret Federal and State regulations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired QualificationsCandidates may possess experience in customer service, providing technical support for operating systems, and delivering formal and informal presentations. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills as well as initiative and the ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing responsibilities. Knowledge and experience with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
