Assistant Director of Development, Eli and Edythe Broad Art MuseumPosition Summary
The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and results-oriented individual, who has a demonstrated appreciation of the visual arts, especially contemporary art, and experience working in art museums, especially in the context of a university. As the Assistant Director of Development, the successful candidate will be expected to complete 150 significant visits a year with donors and prospects; will participate as well in seeking grants from corporations and foundations; activity will be largely confined to the greater Lansing area, although some national travel will be involved.
Reporting directly to the Director of Development and working closely with the other Art Museum staff, University Advancement colleagues, and the volunteers, the Assistant Director will develop and manage a portfolio of 150 special donor prospects, employing an aggressive, strategic moves management program, averaging 12 to 15 face-to-face strategic visits per month including a strategic focus on the identification and discovery of new prospects. Number of solicitations per month should be 2 to 4.Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree program in Museum Studies, Museum Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, Liberal Arts or other related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in fundraising, donor relations, volunteer administration, marketing or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Required Application Materials
