The Web Assistant is responsible for the maintenance, content updating and potential expansion of the College of Arts, Media and Design's website while keeping with the established style guidelines that have been developed. He/she ensures high performance of the website, which provides information, drives enrollment and enhances the reputation of the College.
The Web Assistant will report directly to CAMD's Director of Marketing and Communications and will partner with him as liaison between external web firms. He/she will serve as point of contact for technical website issues and work with CAMD's Marketing and Communications team and departments within the college as administrator for the content management system. The role will encompass regularly updating the home page, adding pages as needed, as well as assisting departments with updates including, but not limited to, news and events, calendar listings, showcase and gallery features, faculty and staff additions and program updates. Will provide a monthly report on CAMD website performance using web analytics.
The Web Assistant will also have experience in video. CAMD's new website will have numerous opportunities to display short, topic-driven videos. Consequently, he/she will be comfortable behind a video camera and have experience with video editing software, such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere. The start date for the position is July 2018.
The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in website development, computer science, information systems, communications or a related field and 2-5 years related work experience. Previous experience in higher ed a plus. He/she will have professional experience with web content management and strong proofreading skills. Excellent organizational and project management skills are needed. Strong ability to manage multiple assignments while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment are required.
The ability to maintain and extend our CMS, both independently and in partnership with outside vendors when needed, is essential. This requires fluency in WordPress themes and plugins. Experience with SEO, SEM and website analytics. Strong troubleshooting, customer service, creativity and problem solving, time management, attention to detail and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to work well independently, within a team environment and with external vendors as well as a variety of internal audiences is essential.
