The Center for the Advancement of Teaching (CAT) at Temple University promotes the value and practice of excellent teaching that facilitates student learning and growth. The CAT offers programming and consultations on pedagogy, curriculum and teaching with technology, as well as resources that support evidence-based teaching practices. We work to provide a community in which faculty engage with each other and learn from the experience and expertise of their colleagues. The faculty developers, instructional technology specialists and administrative staff of the CAT support all 17 colleges within Temple University, which includes over 4,000 faculty members and teaching assistants in undergraduate, graduate and professional disciplines.

The Center for the Advancement of Teaching is seeking a Senior Teaching & Learning Specialist to join a vibrant team in supporting teaching excellence in face-to-face, online, studio and clinical settings. Reporting to the Associate Director, the Specialist designs and implements faculty development programming on pedagogy, curriculum and teaching with technology for all disciplines at Temple University, and conducts individual consultations with faculty and TAs to improve their teaching. Will contribute to various projects and events as needed, for example: conference planning, creation of teaching resources, providing content for website, blog and social media postings. S/he will stay abreast of and participate in the scholarship of teaching and learning.

The ideal candidate has teaching experience at the college or university level as well as familiarity with the research on how people learn. In addition, the candidate has an understanding of how to support learning through improved pedagogical practices and the use instructional technologies to deepen learning. The candidate has contributed to projects that require task management, organization and collaboration. Must be highly collaborative and able to work closely with team members to meet the center's goals. The Senior Teaching & Learning Specialist must be able to communicate clearly, fluently and enthusiastically in both presentations and one-on-one consultations, drawing people to the center's programs and services. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum two years teaching experience in higher education (may include experience as a Teaching Assistant). An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
* Knowledge of best practices in face-to-face, hybrid and online pedagogy and curriculum development.
* Demonstrated evidence of effective teaching.
* Facility with instructional technology.
* Ability to communicate and collaborate with faculty members across the disciplines.
* Ability to work independently.
* Strong presentation and interpersonal skills and ability to work well on a team.
* Experience in planning and implementing projects and/or events.
* Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

* Master's degree or higher strongly preferred.
