Posting Summary:
The Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia seeks highly qualified applicants for a Sheila C Johnson Center (SCJC) Speech Language Pathologist. The SCJC Speech Language Pathologist works in the Sheila C Johnson Center under the Speech-Language and Hearing Clinic providing direct clinical services to patients in the area of Speech-Language Pathology. The incumbent also provides clinical education and clinical supervision of graduate student clinicians. The professional focus of the successful candidate will be primarily with adults presenting with one or more communication disorder(s).

A Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology (SLP) and a minimum of 4 years of clinical experience practicing speech-language pathology is required. Candidates must have experience in some combination of neurogenic communication, voice/resonance, swallowing, and fluency disorders. Also required is the Certificate of Clinical Competence issued by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Virginia License to practice Speech-Language Pathology (or must meet eligibility requirements for licensure).

Qualified applicants must demonstrate the ability to deliver best practice clinical services to clients and their families and have the ability to instruct and counsel graduate students for the purpose of fostering independent clinical decisions grounded in best-practices. Possessing good judgment and a professional demeanor are essential. Strong organizational skills, as well as outstanding written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are also essential. Ability to interact with various levels of internal and external constituencies with confidentiality. Preference will be given to candidates who are fluent in Spanish.

Knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Outlook, Word) is required. Some knowledge of the use of mobile technology such as an IPad is required.
