General Summary: The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for a Part Time Lab Technician. The lab technician will work under the general supervision of the lab coordinator and will help direct and train student-workers. The lab technician will also prep for, setup, and breakdown a multitude of general biology labs, but will spend the majority of the time working with Cell, Genetics, and Microbiology. However, as the department continues to grow, needs may expand over time. A flexible work schedule is required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities: The Lab Technician will:

  • Prepare microbiological media and solutions, and lab setup
  • Maintain microorganism and other living stocks
  • Keep track of lab inventories
  • Track and deliver department acquisitions
  • Keep track and properly dispose of accumulated biological and chemical waste
  • Maintain labs and equipment
  • Assist research students

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Fast learner, Self-management, Innovative, Attention to detail, Aseptic-technique, Comfortable with arithmetic and simple algebra, skills with Excel spreadsheets.

Certifications/Licenses & Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelors of Science
  • Previous lab experience a plus, but not required.
