Job description

Duties: Assist Dentist chair-side utilizing 4-handed technique in patient treatment. Greet and Set-up patients chair-side. Assist with Patient Evaluations. Working knowledge in Orthodontics dental assisting. Take X-rays. Set-up and breakdown of operatories. Order and Maintain Dental supplies.

Assist students, residents and faculty while treating patients; Ensure operatories/cabinets are fully stocked; Maintain supply levels in Orthodontic Unit; Maintain organization and cleanliness of Orthodontic Unit; Sterilize and management of instruments as required. Prepare patients for oral examination and assist other dental professionals in providing treatment to the teeth, mouth, and gums. Work effectively with diverse customers and stakeholders by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions.

Qualifications: Technical School, Certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond High School and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Must be CPR and X-Ray certified, as well as trained and certified to provide chairside assistance for Orthodontics residents and faculty. Must have 2-3 years previous dental assisting experience, CDA preferred. Knowledgeable in OSHA standards, aseptic procedures, HIPAA regulations, sterilization,
infection control, and all dental procedures and supplies. Professional appearance and strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills a must. Must also have basic computer skills and experience with AxiUm software is preferred.
