Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Residence Life seeks candidates who enjoy working in a community setting and fostering a living/learning environment within the Residence Halls. The purpose of the Resident Assistant (RA) is to enhance the quality of life in the Residence Halls while supporting the academic mission of the university for the students in that community. The Resident Assistant (RA) is an undergraduate student responsible for developing relationships with and among residents and working closely with other Residence Life staff members to develop and maintain an atmosphere that promotes community through excellence in academics, inclusion, and personal development opportunities for students. As an employee of the Department of Housing and Residence Life, each RA will support FSU and Department of Housing and Residence Life mission statements, and adhere to administer and enforce policies and procedures as outlined in the FSU Code of Conduct and the Guide to Residential Living. The RA is the crucial link in creating an environment in which students develop independence, achieve academic success, and learn to live cooperatively with others.

Description of Work Continued:
RAs must be available during the week and on weekends to serve in an on duty/on call capacity. In addition, staff is expected to share duty responsibilities over break periods when the residence halls remain open (Thanksgiving, Spring Break, MLK Weekend, Easter, etc.)

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Current full-time undergraduate Fayetteville State University student. Must have an established semester and cumulative GPA of 2.75. Knowledge of campus community, including a minimum of two semesters of on-campus living. Minimum of 24 semester hours completed prior to August 1, 2018. Must be willing/able to live on campus as primary place of residence.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
Position start date is August 1, 2018. Must be available to move in and begin training on July 30, 2018
