Strategic Initiatives and Communications Manager

Working under minimal direction and reporting directly to the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) of Procurement Services, this position serves as the Fiscal Officer for Procurement Services and the CPO. Provides strategic direction on managing annual budget for Procurement Services. Develops strategies for recharge opportunities at campus and medical center. Provides management oversight for reconciling PALCard purchases, UCIBuy purchases, travel reimbursement transactions, strategic sourcing incentive checks to Budget Office income account and telephone ledgers. Acts as primary liaison between the department and A&BS Support Services. Manages and monitors the department budget for Procurement Services. Completes general error corrections and assist with solvency of accounts as part of year-end fiscal closing activities.

Establishes strategy for publication and maintenance of web content for Procurement Services. Develops strategies for the training programs that are delivered to campus clients at all levels of the organization, through instructor-led classroom training sessions, e-courses, presentations, and webinars.

Directs and oversees monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of training programs in order to incorporate improvements to future courses. Manages the development of clearly written materials for use by the Procurement Services department and plays a key role in communicating to various departments. Oversees outreach programs to increase awareness and to educate and train the campus community regarding the importance of Strategic Sourcing and the benefits of utilizing collective purchasing power in order to obtain better price points.

Develops strategies and leads the efforts for the development, assessment, and successful advancement of UCI's sustainability in regards to purchasing programs. Provides strategic direction for UCI's small business purchasing program. Provides support to the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO), develops strategies for implementing policies and procedures, and provides solutions to problems. Assists the CPO in the development of and reporting on performance and productivity measures. Provides management and direction to the front desk, Help Desk (phones), mail, and calendaring to assure staff, vendors, and the public are given exemplary customer service. Acts as the department liaison for Finance and Administration Human Resources including benefit issues and the Achieve Performance Program. Provides management and oversees administrative assistant staff.

Salary: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
Career Position.
Background check is required.
The position will require working in excess of a 40-hour workweek during peak project periods.
Business travel may be required, although mainly within California.
California driver's license required.
Final candidate subject to background check.
