Assists the supervisor in the interpretation and publication of results and grants. Maintains the laboratory and may exercise functional supervision over supporting research staff. Primary responsibility is ensuring that the research is complete. The appointment generally does not extend beyond two years.
The Clark group designs nanosensors to detect ions (Na, K, Ca, etc.) and small molecules (glucose, acetylcholine, etc.) as well as proteins. The Niedre group develops novel optical instrumentation for fluorescence detection of circulating sensors in the bloodstream.


Postdoctoral Research Associate - In vivo chemical imaging with fluorescent sensors.
The successful candidate would be highly motivated and have research interests and experience spanning these two groups. Key skills include fluorescence imaging (particularly in vivo), optical instrument design and validation, and nanotechnology for biological applications. A background in animal handling and pharmacokinetics would be considered a plus. Candidates must work well on an interdisciplinary team and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications & essential functions: PhD degree in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, biology, or a related field. Expertise in at least two of the three areas:
Fluorescence imaging of cellular signaling or in vivo processes , Optical instrument development and Animal Handling.
