Location:  Online

University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach, online in the Investigative Forensics program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following courses:

CCJS 301 – Criminalistics I: The Comparative Disciplines: An intensive study of the analysis of physical evidence in the crime laboratory, with practical laboratory exercises. The objective is to apply skills expected of an entry-level professional in the investigative forensics field that are necessary for the practical analysis of evidence in a criminal investigation. Topics include the comparative disciplines, including impression evidence analysis, trace evidence analysis, and firearms analysis.

CCJS 302 - Criminalistics II: Further intensive study of the analysis of physical evidence in the crime laboratory, with practical laboratory exercises. The goal is to apply skills expected of an entry-level criminalist to the practical analysis of evidence in a criminal investigation. Topics include the applications of the scientific disciplines, including bloodstain pattern analysis, questioned document analysis, controlled dangerous substances analysis, and DNA analysis.

Required Education and Experience

  • A Master’s degree in Forensic Science or Natural Science, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Professional bench level experience in a forensics laboratory, in impression evidence, trace evidence, firearms and tool marks, questioned document analysis, controlled dangerous substances analysis and/or DNA analysis.

  • Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
  • Stateside Location Specific: This position is specifically to teach online.
