The Elliott School's Finance office is currently seeking an Accounting Assistant. Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, the Accounting Assistant will provide administrative support and technical accounting and budget analysis focusing on the centers and institutes within the school. This position will be located on the Foggy Bottom campus. Hours of operation are 8:30 am - 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include:

Develops, maintains, and provides financial analysis/reconciliations on a monthly basis. Assists Senior Financial Analyst with expense and revenue projections and variance analysis by expense categories at the center and institute level.

Reviews and processes center and institute financial documents such as invoices, vouchers, receipts, requisitions, and reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Prepares reports that reflect distribution, allocation, and utilization of financial resources including monitoring budgets, expenses and revenues.

Reviews and prepares school deposits, stipend disbursements , credit card journal entries, sales tax reporting and leave reconciliation/reporting.

Proposes new or improved financial or administrative procedures to improve overall school operations.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred.
Professional experience related to analyzing and maintaining fiscal data to include preparation of financial reports is preferred.
Previous or current higher education experience preferred.
Ability to utilize Excel, Oracle and Banner is preferred.
Ability to understand and interpret University policies and procedures in the areas of finance, payroll, procurement, and sponsored programs is preferred.
