Posting Summary:
The Associate Director of Economic Development reports to the Assistant VP for Economic Development and supports the daily operation of the University's economic development function. The Associate Director works both internally and externally to identify economic development opportunities that leverage the assets of the University. The Associate Director works in a collaborative manner to help coordinate, direct, implement, and monitor economic development initiatives. S/he will foster relationships with partners and represent the unit and institution as appropriate. S/he will help implement the communication plan, fulfill reporting requirements, and maintain website and database.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills. Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills with ability to serve as an interface between academia, industry, and government;
-Ability to work collegially within a large, complex system and to negotiate with a wide range of constituencies.
-Ability to project a clear message on the University's role in economic development with faculty, staff, students, community, corporate, and government leaders.
-Ability to develop compelling value proposition statements and related materials and incorporate them into a broader communication strategy.
-Ability to identify opportunities, assess situations, assemble multi-party initiatives, find mutually beneficial areas for collaboration, and communicate to all stakeholders.
-Project management for complex, rapidly developing initiatives that may be ambiguous and with shifting participants.
