Job Summary/Basic Function

The Administrative Assistant provides a broad and deep range of support services to the Chair of the Counseling & Psychology Department and coordinates general business operations for the Department. The individual in this position must be able to exercise good judgment in decision making and have outstanding oral and communication skills. The position assists with budgetary accountability and controls, records management, inventory control, management, coordination, travel, other special assignments. This individual must have the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner with university administration, faculty, staff, students, the general public and public officials.

Minimum Education/Experience/Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Four years of related experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Effective communicator who can collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Bachelor's degree
