Job description

Duties: Integrate and train team members to follow best practices to develop high quality data analysis standards and pipelines. Lead the core to contribute to research proposals and create high quality deliverables for project reports and publications. Implement and maintain effective customizable and scalable workfolk for large scale management of and analysis of clinical data derived from Penn Medicine databases such as the Penn Data Store. Develop stable funding model for expansion and sustainability of the core, including internal grants; collaborative grant applications and service charges. Develop staff position plans and oversee recruitment. Establish scientific collaborations with researchers across campus. Work with PSOM researchers to prioritize core services to best meet user needs; estimate efforts and skills for user service requests. Explore and employ academic informatics software or platforms that enable both experimental and computational researchers across campus to access and utilize such tools for data analysis and management. Provide training on the use of locally employed academic data science and informatics tools. Build a Penn clinical research informatics community, including informaticians and computational researchers, as well as other informatics groups, for efficient resource sharing. Generate general strategies for high performance computation and procure requisite equipment.

Qualifications: The minimum of a MS degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or other biomedical domains and 5 to 7 years of experience working in informatics and computational technologies or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience with architecture and tools for managing and analyzing clinical data. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time. Prior management of staff highly desirable. Advanced skills in a high level programming language, preferably Python, R, or Java. Experience with management of high-performance computational resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good record of publications
