Duties: The Assistant Director will provide administrative leadership and strategic planning to the Penn Medicine Nudge Unit. He/she will be involved in all aspects of the operation, financing, and future planning for the Nudge Unit. This includes managing the growth and development of the Nudge Unit's project base and overseeing the implementation of projects. The Assistant Director will train, hire, supervise and evaluate the Nudge Unit's staff and interns; oversee effort allocation; and will be responsible for long-term strategic planning of Nudge Unit staffing needs. The Assistant Director will define budgets and manage day to day financial activity related to the Nudge Unit and plan for future funding. Lastly, the Assistant Director will coordinate dissemination efforts, including oversight of the Nudge Unit website and act as liaison with communication and marketing staff at Penn Medicine and PSOM.

Qualifications: The minimum of a Master's Degree and 5 years to 7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience carrying out behavioral and/or economic research a plus; excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of the role and capabilities of research staff; research business office processes; grant writing and grant management; and the implementation of research protocols. Additionally, the Assistant Director should have strong business operations skills to manage 20+ personnel, operations, resource allocation, project development, funds flow, timelines, and planning.

The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving abilities, outstanding written and verbal communications skills, time management skills and will function successfully with a high level of independence in her/his role.
