Provide excellent customer service and support to University of Wisconsin faculty, staff and students through hardware and software configuration, focusing on Dell and Apple equipment. Provide technical training and mentoring to other staff. Ensure that technical operations function efficiently.
This position is primarily responsible for installing, maintaining, upgrading and troubleshooting Apple and Dell hardware, including desktops and laptops with operating systems ranging from MacOS X and Windows Vista - Windows 10. It also ensures that others in the repair department are able to perform the same duties through technical training.
This position works closely with Repair staff and interfaces frequently with DoIT Help Desk and DoIT technology specialists in teams or as individuals. The incumbent must have excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to ensure effective communication with staff from diverse technologies and a variety of customers at different skill levels. This position reports directly to the Tech Store Supervisor.
Monday - Friday, 7:45 am - 4:30 pm
This position is initially expected to last one year, with the possibility of extending the position up to a maximum of two years or it may become ongoing based upon unit need, funding and employee performance.

* Demonstrated excellent customer service skills, using effective communication
* Hardware repair experience with Apple, Dell, and/or other major brands of hardware (2 or more years of professional experience
* Software troubleshooting (both Macintosh and Windows) and virus rescue experience (2 or more years of professional experience)
* Warranty certified in at least one of either Apple or non-Apple manufacturer.
* Demonstrated leadership through the mentoring and training of staff
