Nurse Practitioner III

Incumbent will be employed by the School of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine and work under the supervision of the Physicians of the neuro-oncology program. Under direction, guided by the Committee on Interdisciplinary Practice (CIDP), and in collaboration with the Department of Neurology faculty, the Nurse Practitioner provides direct care through physical assessment and medical intervention to patients with cancer and other neuro-oncology related illnesses. Will perform specific neurological examinations and general physical examinations based on advanced nurse practice training and advanced academic and clinical training in the field of neurology.

Incumbent will have additional management responsibilities in that the incumbent will oversee, in collaboration with the Cancer Center Clinic Manager and Medical Director, neuro-oncology Clinical operations at the Cancer Center. The Nurse Practitioner III will act as an expert clinical resource and mentor for clinic staff. Will work collaboratively with the research staff in the development and conduct of research as well as the dissemination of research findings through written publication, professional meetings, and community programs. Will function according to accepted Standardized Procedures for Nurse Practitioners through the Department of Neurology. Under the Nurse Practice Act will perform independent functions utilizing these standardized procedures and general practice protocols. Will be responsible for the creation and revision of such standardized procedures and be accountable for maintaining the policies and protocols delegated by the CIDP and Medical Director of the Medical Staffing Department.

Incumbent will work closely with the Medical Director to assist with the collaboration with other services and departments for the treatment of our Neuro-oncology patients. Incumbent will assist with any pain contracts that may be in place for Neurology patients.

May participate in teaching activities, under the guidance of the faculty of Neurology, with students and members of the community.

Salary: Hourly $61.98 - $85.10
Total Hours: 8-5, M-F
