Provides vision and leadership for international affairs at CMU, including strategic planning, development and reform of campus international policies and procedures. Promotes the development of a global focus on campus. Enhances existing and develops new international partnerships that advance student learning, joint research, and civic engagement. Coordinates campus-wide international initiatives and activities in partnership with Colleges, Graduate Studies and Enrollment and Student Services. Stimulates internationalization of the curriculum, research, and outreach. Pursues external grant funding in support of international research and education, and development funding in support of scholarships for international students. Oversees the Office of International Affairs (OIA).Master's degree.
Five years' experience in an educational and/or management position including significant degree of international content, preferably within a university context, with evidence of increasing responsibility.
Must be able to travel internationally 20-30% of the year.
Personal experience studying or working abroad.
Leadership and administrative experience with international program development in a higher education environment.
Demonstrated understanding of current issues and best practices in international education.
Knowledge of international student recruitment.
Demonstrated success in working productively with a variety of constituents, including international partners and faculty.
Excellent communication skills and experience in supervision, fiscal management and management of crises and problems as they arise.
