Job Description:

General Statement of Duties

The Marketing Content Coordinator will implement digital communications including graphic design and social media marketing for Mount Wachusett Community College. The Marketing Content Coordinator will advance MWCC's content and conversation via multiple online channels. The Marketing Content Coordinator will assist in the development of graphics, online advertisements, and web copy.  The Marketing Content Coordinator is responsible for engagement report/tracking, optimizing social content, community management and trend monitoring. Manages the day-to-day social media community; ensures a vibrant, relevant, and responsive digital ecosystem that showcases MWCC's unique selling points and value proposition.

Under general supervision, the purpose of the classification is to create/produce the college's visual and graphic communications materials.  Employees in this classification perform graphic design work.  Classification is responsible for creating/producing graphic materials, assuring quality of visual communications, teaching computer graphics classes, and coordinating printing projects with outside printing vendors.  Also responsible for coordination of assigned staff.  Performs related work as directed.



  1. Works under the Assistant Director of Marketing to design and layout print publications for the college, including TAM playbills, Admissions Collateral, invitations, programs, and catalogs
  2. Works with the Assistant Director of Visual and Digital Communications to develop a digital content strategy for social media channels.
  3. Supports Assistant Director of Visual and Digital Communications in the development of online advertisements as needed for various social channels.
  4. Composes content for web pages and social messaging
  5. Explores and identifies new audience opportunities in social media, developing new social channels to publish marketing content.
  6. Works with the Communications Specialist to develop influencer conversations in social and news media.
  7. Drives awareness and search utilizing all relevant digital channels.
  8. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Visual and Digital Communications, develops and posts video and photos to be used on social media platforms.
  9. Attends in-person college events and special occasions and captures photo and video to be shared on social media platforms.  
  10. Monitors and responds to inquiries via social channels.
  11. Collects and reports on engagement via digital channels on a recurring basis.
  12. Supports the Assistant Director of Visual and Digital Communications with various student-led social engagement groups, e.g., Street Team.
  13. Manages and maintains College's digital assets through online digital asset management system: build/maintain photo archives across various media and software; search MWCC's photo library and digital assets and extract media for all MWCC publications and new media.

Creates/produces the college's visual and graphic communications materials using related computer software (i.e. creates, produces, or oversees production of graphic materials, including advertisements, catalogs, brochures, posters, and search pieces; assures quality of the college's visual communications materials; meets with faculty, staff, and administration concerning their graphic needs/requests; creates a visual "look" for college publications; assists with development of advertising campaigns and publications; assists with college home page design or availability of information to students via Internet).

Teaches computer graphic classes; develops handouts, lessons, and software/graphics instructional materials for class instruction.

Performs administrative tasks associated with department activities (i.e. initiates requests for department equipment, software, supplies; provides budgetary input and monitors expenditures; proofreads copy/documentation; maintains current files and backs up computer data; prepares bid requests, instructional materials, purchase orders, budget documents, reports, forms, and general correspondence; receives or refers to budget reports, magazines, publications, manuals, and reference materials; operates a computer, printers, scanner, and photograph copying machine; utilizes word processing, desktop publishing, graphics, photograph imaging, test scanning, Internet, or other software programs).

Coordinates printing projects with outside printing vendors (i.e. prepares printing bid requests for materials to be printed by outside providers; evaluates performance of printing vendors; makes recommendations on use of various printing vendors).

Interacts with various agencies/individuals (i.e. attends meetings; communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, students, faculty members, printing companies, vendors, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals to coordinate activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems).

Coordinates work of assigned staff and work-study students (i.e. instructs assigned staff in performance of duties according to established standards; prioritizes, assigns, reviews, and coordinates work; assists with complex or problem situations and provides direction; responds to employee issues and concerns; interviews and recommends selection of new employees).

Maintains professional knowledge in applicable areas (i.e. maintains a working knowledge of assigned area; researches new technologies, products, trends and advances in the profession; learns new computer graphics programs and software upgrades; reads professional literature; attends workshops and training sessions).


While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may be performed by other unit members.

Performs miscellaneous tasks (i.e. monitors inventory of art/computer supplies; researches vendors to obtain supplies; maintains the college's photographic files; updates/signs college forms; coordinates placement of names on certificates/awards).

Performs related duties as directed.



Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Graphic Arts, or closely related field; with three (3) years' experience and/or training that includes graphic design and computer graphics program operations; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  In order to be considered for this position please provide document with a link to online portfolio showing samples of professional graphic design work and any professional social media posts.


  • Training in graphic design, business, social media marketing
  • Two to three years of Digital Marketing Experience and/or Web Marketing Experience;
  • Firm knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite;  
  • Firm knowledge of Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat;
  • Working knowledge of WordPress as a CMS;
  • Photography experience a plus;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office;
  • Understands mobile technology and its role in search, commerce and content delivery;
  • Understands need for growth and evolution in concepts of digital, web, technology as a tool for brand awareness and engagement;
  • Understands role of social media in traffic generation for search and website;
  • Works well in a team environment, handles multiple tasks, and completes tasks quickly and effectively;
  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information:

In-house Title: Marketing Content Coordinator
Salary: $ 35,881.56 - $ 61,159.96

Actual Salary determined by education, experience and any applicable grant limitations per the collective bargaining agreement.
