Job Summary

This position requires the ability to assist students with disabilities to use assistive and adaptive technological equipment and software designed specifically for auxiliary aid and services purposes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervises and/or provides direct adaptive technology training for students with disabilities
  • Maintains equipment and manages inventories of all Department technology and software for students with disabilities
  • Actively researches and identifies new and developing adaptive technologies for students with disabilities
  • Evaluates and projects adaptive technology needs based upon knowledge of new developments in the field of adaptive technology
  • Obtains quotes and helps prepare all new purchase proposals for administrative approvals
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution and two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point); as well as, Mac 10.4 or higher and the related universal accessibility features for Apple products and iWorks applications, basic adaptive and assistive technology (e.g., CCTVs, Braille embossers, FM systems, tape recorders, etc.) and software (e.g., JAWS, Dragon Dictate, OCR, Kurzweil 1000/3000, OpenBook, etc.) for PCs and universal acc
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
  • Possess creative potential in developing alternative adaptive technologies Possess technical troubleshooting skills for hardware and software
  • Possess good decision making, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Possess a friendly and positive disposition
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights and weekends
  • Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
