POSITION DETAILS
Hunter College of the City University of New York (CUNY) seeks a dynamic academic administrator for the position of Director of Campus Schools. Located in Manhattan, Hunter College Campus Schools (HCCS) include a renowned K-6 Hunter College Elementary School and celebrated 7-12 Hunter College High School that are among the nation's oldest and foremost specialized gifted schools and serve a student body that is racially, ethnically and socioeconomically diverse.

The Director of Campus Schools manages administrative and fiscal matters and building needs for both the Elementary School and High School and works closely with Hunter College's senior leadership to represent the two Campus Schools. Working in partnership with the Elementary and High School Principals, the Director is responsible for curriculum development, personnel selection, supervision and development. The Director also oversees the implementation of admissions policies and procedures. The Director also works in cooperation with Hunter College's Gifted Center to enhance the schools' gifted education programs.

The HCCS Director supervises the Admissions Director, Deputy Director, Finance & Human Relations officers. Most notably, the Director supervises both the High School Principal and Elementary School Principal with whom s/he closely collaborates on school-wide goals and expectations and curricular and pedagogical direction. The Direction of Campus Schools will provide vision for a seamless K-12 educational experience for Hunter's gifted students.

QUALIFICATIONS
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience and shall be the same as for comparable positions in the New York City Department of Education. Additional qualifications are defined below by the College.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The HCCS Director will be an experienced professional and administrator with leadership expertise working in elementary and secondary education and working with people representing diverse backgrounds, roles, and interests. S/he needs strong communication skills, significant experience with staff supervision and development, curricular and instructional practices, and school or district administration. In addition, knowledge and/or experience in theory and best practices in gifted education or comparably populations is highly desirable. The preferred candidate will be an educator and a leader who understands the art of teaching and learning, and who will empower his/her staff and community to serve the diverse educational needs of a highly acclaimed gifted program that serves as a model for similar programs in the country.
