Senior Trades Helper
I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
The Division of Operations, Life Safety Shop is seeking an Senior Trades Helper with excellent customer service skills and the ability to physically perform job duties, including: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling a variety of equipment. Carries out special jobs or emergency call as assigned. This position will receive on-the-job training in the building trade to which assigned. Ability to work flexible schedule and on-call / rotating weekends.
This position reports to the Life Safety Supervisor.
The responsibilities of a Trades Helper are:
1. Assists with and/or performs all Sprinkler maintenance and testing.
2. Assists with and/or performs all generator maintenance and testing.
3. Assists with and/or perform all fire alarm servicing and testing
4. Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to physically perform job duties, including: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling a variety of equipment.Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to read and understand English.
Intermediate computer skills with Windows 7, Microsoft Office Suite, and various web browsing software platforms. Proficient with computerized tools and testing equipment.
