Duke TIP is seeking an Assistant Director for the CRISIS Program. This role will assist the Director of Program Operations in the conceptualization and management of educational programming for TIP's CRISIS program participants. The Assistant Director for the CRISIS Program provides administrative support in the development, implementation, and evaluation of these programs. Also this position supervises support personnel and oversees staff at the program sites. Some travel is required to maintain current site relations, develop partnerships with potential sites, and to attend professional development events and conferences. The Assistant Director for the CRISIS Program reports to the Director of Program Operations in the Educational Programs division. Work Performed:
Direct the development of interdisciplinary curriculum materials for Duke TIP's CRISIS Program.

The Assistant Director oversees and coordinates planning for logistical aspects of these programs such as, housing, dining, health care, transportation, equipment rentals, special events, materials procurement, and student activities. Make recommendations as to program locations and partnerships.

Interpret Duke TIP policies and procedures, making decisions on specific operating issues to develop training programs,
staff handbooks, and materials that ensure compliance with TIP regulations and the smooth operation of TIP Educational Programs.

Work with the Director of Program Operations and the Director of Educational Programs in the development and oversight of appropriate risk management strategies for students and staff attending domestic programs and traveling abroad. Manage emergency and crisis situations with students and staff during program sessions. Assist and advise the Director of Program Operations and the Director of Educational Programs on issues of policy involving the dismissal of TIP students and/or staff and other disciplinary decisions.

Oversee the processing of staff evaluations at the conclusion of programs. Report evaluations and written summary assessment to the Director of Program Operations and other staff members as directed. Present to the Director of Educational Programs an annual report of TIP CRISIS Program, evaluating the academic, residential, and logistical aspects of the programs, and making recommendations for improvements.

Develop and recommend a budget to the Director of Program Operations. Review and reconcile actual expenses to budget; develop pricing recommendations and models.

Direct the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of admissions protocols for the TIP CRISIS Program.

Work collaboratively with TIP External Relations & Communications division to develop materials, strategies, and communications about the TIP CRISIS Program.

Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of the TIP CRISIS Program site employees.

Represent Duke TIP's Educational Programs department at conferences, workshops, Recognition Ceremonies, staff recruitment events, and professional meetings. Serve on various committees as appropriate.

Provide leadership in policy development and implementation across TIP's Educational Programs.

Education/Training

Experience

A master's degree in a related field may be substituted for 2 years of experience.
OR ANY OTHER EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree preferred; excellent ability to work collaboratively with people; excellent organizational skills; experience with curriculum development for the academically gifted; ability to use Microsoft Office software; willingness to travel. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, service orientation. Familiarity with talent search-based programs and educational organizations involved with gifted students is a plus.
