Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, an Integration Architect is a valuable and key member of our Information Technology team, who will serve as the integration expert across all Cerner solutions and interfaces and across several platforms in a Healthcare Environment. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Data Architect and other architects in the development of the system architecture plan and implementation strategy to ensure it meets the long term Health System Strategy for Stony Brook Medicine.

The Integration Architect will be responsible for the coordination of and ensure design decisions, system validation and integration activities include considerations across all solutions, downstream systems and venues of care and that they fall within scope. The incumbent will also provide leadership for support of environment/domain planning and management including regression testing after code installs, domain copies, reference data domain synchs (RDDS), and activity deletes. They will also assist with development of implementation strategies and work plans as required.

Duties may include the following but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the integration expert across all solutions and interfaces providing troubleshooting and process expertise
  • Works collaboratively with the Data Architect and other architects in the development of the system architecture plan and implementation strategy to ensure it meets the long term Health System Strategy for Stony Brook Medicine
  • Provides analysis and process redesign recommendations
  • Assist with the development of implementation strategies and work plans
  • Support environment/domain planning and management including regression testing after code installs, domain copies, reference data domain synchs (RDDS), and activity deletes
  • Coordinate and ensure design decisions, system validation and integration activities include considerations across solutions, downstream systems and venues of care and that they fall within scope
  • Manages the planning of code upgrades as required to align with roadmap and vendor recommendations
  • Maintain responsibility for Distribution Package analysis and installation by working across organizations to identify and evaluate packages for code compatibility
  • Enable the execution of domain, issue and change management strategies
  • Manages the strategy and implementation of the External Reference Lab Data Connectivity to SBM
  • Drive the system validation process and provide guidelines for all levels of implementation testing
  • Assist in developing appropriate IT policies and procedures for issue management and change control
  • Monitor Cerner Navigator (eService) for integration points and ensure all issues are getting resolved in a timely fashion
  • Provide leadership for Integration Testing, Reference Data Domain Sync (RDDS), and Conversion Readiness
  • Assist with peripheral (infrastructure/devices) implementation strategy
  • Lead Integration Meetings
  • Troubleshoot technical integration issues
  • Acts as escalation point for integration issues and risks
  • Identify and propose domain stability improvement strategies
  • Partner with Project Teams/Vendor Teams to ensure project deliverables and timelines are met
  • Mentor and coach project team members and production support teams
  • Attend Project Management Office meetings, and Domain Strategy Meetings
  • Works in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures
  • Works in accordance with SBMIT processes and policies
  • Document all work according to standards.
  • Other tasks as needed by the project teams and production support teams
  • Qualifications:

    Required Qualifications: Minimum four (4) years of IT experience in a complex healthcare environment, preferably in academic medical centers or tertiary care settings. Bachelors Degree in computer science, information systems or related field will ensure that the incumbent has the conceptual skills required for this role. In lieu of computer science or information systems related degree, 6-8 years of experience as a healthcare IT Analyst and/or Integration Architect. IT related experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of the standard tools, workflow processes, and/or procedures and concepts used in the deployment and development of application software necessary to run the healthcare systems business, clinical or financial systems or thorough understanding of Cerner Integration Architecture in either a Hospital and/or Ambulatory setting.

    Preferred Qualifications: Experience with
  • Cerner Millennium, Cerner Discern Apps, iBus, CareAware Platform, CCL, FSI Interfaces, Cerner Bedrock Wizard, Citrix Applications, XML, LINUX, ORACLE, FTP protocol.
  • Understanding or knowledge of Cerner PowerForms, Orders, mPages, PowerPlans and CareSets.
  • Understanding or knowledge of SAP Business Objects
  • Mentoring and coaching of project and/or production support team members
  • Managing code upgrades in an enterprise environment
