In June 2008 the Dairy Science Department opened its new Integrated Dairy Facility at the Dairy Research Center in Arlington, WI. This new facility has many new technologies that are both labor saving and better for the health and well being of our cattle. The facility potentially houses 600 cattle.
The individual filling this position will be the lead worker responsible for managing the day to day feeding operation, the sand reclamation building system and equipment, feed inventory and storage, employee training and safety guidelines on large equipment, as well as assisting with other farm maintenance. The incumbent must work independently to blend and deliver cow rations with strict attention to detail and weight measurements. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining the day to day operation of the sand reclamation system to ensure high quality recycled bedding material is available for use, as well as ensuring that all safety guidelines of manure handling and large equipment are being met. The incumbent must be skilled at following oral and written instructions as directed by management and research protocols. The individual functioning in this position must be a good communicator to other lead workers, management, farm center staff, and veterinary staff on their impressions of overall facility operation. This position may require flexible hours, and will require weekend, holiday, and emergency on-call assignments.
Shifts will be four 10 hour work days each week from 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM, will include an every other weekend rotation and an on-call schedule for emergencies. Scheduling may change and adjust as needed to meet operation needs.

Minimum salary is $14.18. Pay upon appointment will be based on experience.
