Position Summary: The Research Project Manager will oversee and manage administrative and research activities for the UNC Center for Environmental Health and Susceptibility (CEHS) and for a laboratory in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC). This position will interact with UNC and external investigators to facilitate genomic and molecular analysis in association with several population-based studies. The Research Project Manager will play a key role in promoting and fostering new research collaborations, and will support research and programmatic activities of the CEHS and the LCCC. Working closely with the Center Director and LCCC faculty and personnel, and Core Facility directors, the Manager will encourage pilot project development, link investigators to relevant CEHS core facilities and resources, and connect investigators with common interests. The Manager will also support ongoing research activities focused on molecular epidemiology within LCCC and represent LCCC and the CEHS at School and University events and will attend national meetings in support of the research. The Manager will support communication with CEHS and LCCC members and their collaborators and coordinate multiple facility core and advisory components.

Education Requirements: Masters degree and 2 years of experience in an area relevant to this position such as project management or public health.

Qualification and Experience: Prefer a candidate with strong project management and interpersonal skills and training. Ideally, the applicant will have experience working in multi-disciplinary research teams, project and data management, and have been exposed to or assisted in grant and publication writing and submission. The interested applicant should have excellent organizational, oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and desire to work as part of a large, multi-faceted team. Requires Microsoft Office software competency and familiarity with electronic data entry systems. Past experience with public health, environmental health, community-engaged research, or research administration is highly desirable.
