Position Summary: The Assistant Director of University Bands is a permanent, non-tenure track position housed in the Department of Music and funded equally by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Department of Athletics. The Assistant Director is involved with all aspects of the Marching Tar Heels including repertoire selection, development of show concepts, instruction, and performance scheduling. In addition, the person will direct the pep band at women's basketball games and be involved with the management and operation of the Athletic Bands. Other duties may include conducting a concert band and teaching music education or other courses in the Department of Music that align with their interest and expertise.

Education Requirements: Relevant Master's degree required. Doctorate is preferred.

Qualification and Experience: Must have experience in assisting in conducting band ensembles, working with a college marching band, and recruiting.
