FACILITIES AND HUSBANDRY TRAINING MANAGER
Duties: Reporting to the Associate Director, Facilities, Planning and Husbandry Training this position manages the operations of the husbandry trainers and husbandry mentors. This position serves as the primary liaison between Husbandry Operations, ULAR Scientific Trainers and the Husbandry Trainers on all matters related to training within the department. This positions will work with Husbandry Management and Training to facilitate the development and revision of SOP's as well as ensure husbandry training material and documentation is current and up to date. This position will serve as the contact for ULAR with University Facilities (FRES) and each School regarding maintenance
items, the ULAR maintenance log, urgent maintenance needs and long term maintenance items that have not been addressed; working with FRES, each School's facility services and ISC concerning the set
up, maintenance and review of the environmental monitoring equipment to ensure proper room settings, alarm notifications and testing for proper function; Working with the Associate Director
for Husbandry and Facilities on special projects such as ordering supplies for new buildings, development and revision of PI and husbandry procedural and animal room agreements, price and
quality comparisons with the ULAR Business office and Penn Purchasing and other projects as needed. Serve as liaison between ULAR Husbandry Training and Husbandry Operations to Serves as the primary
contact for all vendors regarding yearly maintenance contracts, scheduling maintenance and archival of maintenance records.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's Degree required and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. AAALAS certified at the LATG level or required within first year of hire. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have proficiency using the computer, including word, excel, and email. Proven ability to handle and lead multiple projects at any one given time. Ability to lift 50lbs.
Knowledge of proper handling, restraint and euthanasia of laboratory animals. Must be service oriented and be able to work at a team player. Degree in or related to Lab Animal Science. Previous supervisory/managerial experience required.
