Reporting to the Penn Engineering Executive Director of Development and working closely with the Penn Engineering Vice Dean for Development and Alumni Relations, the Major Gifts Officer/Senior Major Gifts Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift prospects and donors capable of making gifts of $100K or more. The Major Gifts Officer/Senior Major Gifts Officer will be responsible for completing 120 face to face visits each year with prospects including alumni, parents and friends of the School. The Major Gifts Officer/Senior Major Gifts Officer will represent Penn Engineering's mission and fundraising priorities to a variety of constituencies and stakeholders and, as appropriate, engage the dean, senior leadership, faculty, and volunteers in the process of cultivating and soliciting potential donors to the School. This position will take the lead in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift level individuals and will be particularly skilled at engaging major prospects in meaningful ways that further productive philanthropic relationships. Responsibilities include: * Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects with an emphasis on securing major gifts to support SEAS funding priorities * Manage a prospect pool of approximately 225 potential prospects. * Assist (Senior Major Gifts Officer will manage) in with the SEAS Planned Giving Program which includes visits, marketing materials and gift calculations * Work collaboratively with development communications and stewardship officers to develop and provide individualized and strategic stewardship for existing donors * Assist (Senior Major Gifts Officer will manage) in the planning and execution of special events where appropriate * Research and identify new prospects through a variety of vehicles including but not limited too; list reviews, news articles, referrals and screenings * Represent SEAS at events The Major Gifts Officer/Senior Major Gifts Officer will maintain a personal portfolio of prospects; develop strategies for individual prospects; prepare proposals and cultivation and solicitation materials; work collaboratively with other development officers, the dean, department chairs & faculty members and volunteers; organize and coordinate the promotion & solicitation of planned gifts; assist in planning, implementation, and coordination of cultivation and stewardship events.

Qualifications: BA/BS Degree 3-5 years (Major Gifts Officer Grade Level) or 5-7 (Senior Major Gifts Officer Grade Level) of successful front-line fundraising, professional higher education development-related experience Familiarity with Penn and/or a solid understanding of a major research university environment a plus Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Ability to work independently and collaboratively, in goal-oriented team environment Travel and evening and weekend work, and valid driver's license required
