Position Description

The Department of Teacher Education seeks a visiting assistant professor with teaching expertise in both Social Foundations and Social Studies methods (K-8) instruction. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate instruction and will teach a 4/4 course load of courses in Social Foundations and Social Studies methods as well as participate in service to the department. A terminal degree (Ph.D/Ed.D) in the Social Foundations and/or Social Studies or closely related field are required. Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of K-8 classroom experience working with a diverse student population and an understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy, restorative justice, critical pedagogy, and the social, political, and economic issues present in contemporary K-12 classrooms.
