Summary of Job Duties

The University of Arkansas System is embarking on a transformational Workday project for its Enterprise Resource Planner (ERP). The project will encompass a phased implementation of Workday's Financial Management, Human Capital Management, and Student Administration for all System entities. The overarching vision is for "the System to operate even more like a System" by bringing member institutions onto the Workday ERP platform for all major business functions. The System intends to adopt leading practices and consistent business processes as part of this initiative.

The University of Arkansas System is looking for an experienced information technology professional to join our ERP leadership team. This position functions as the Information Technology Lead on the ERP Team. Responsibilities include managing the operation and support of the technology architecture and managing the overall technical operations, including, workflow, interface, conversions, security, and enhancements. This position is responsible for providing overall leadership and subject matter expertise in the implementation of the integration and reporting functionality in scope and overseeing the timely completion of deliverables required by the project plan.

Key Responsibilities:

Management. In conjunction with the implementation partner's information technology lead, develops the detailed team work plan and provides day-to-day technical direction to the project. Coordinates with UA System institutions and their information technology knowledge experts to ensure technical requirements are met. Works with project management to identify and obtain resources.

Technical Activities. Responsible for overall management of the Technical Integration and Reporting team and for ensuring the coordination of their work with the work of other team members/leaders. Supervises software development and data implementation, including, interfaces, data conversions, reports, and forms. Responsible for directing the security team. Manages the integration between Workday and non-Workday administrative systems.

Issue and Risk Management. Identifies and resolves issues in a timely manner and rectifies performance discrepancies. Escalates issues that cannot be resolved within the team. Identifies and analyses risks and implements risk reduction and contingency plans.

Quality Assurance. Complies with the project and deliverable quality standards. Ensures adequate project documentation. Notifies management team of implementation needs not being met and deviations from the project plan.

Support. Identifies and resolves technical issues. Supports the functional team in the coordination of transports. Supports development, production, quality assurance, and testing environments. Provides assistance in developing the cut-over plan. Manages development of internal controls to support the new processes. Assists and guides the functional teams to provide for security in Workday. Establishes standardized procedures for monitoring performance of interfaces, reports, system response time, etc. and for addressing issues with corrective actions.

  • The educational equivalent of Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least five years of experience leading or managing complex projects within the area of information technology
  • Strong technical implementation experience in package or custom developed systems
  • At least three years of supervisory experience
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and travel throughout the State to various UA campuses on an average of once a week as needed

Preferred Qualifications
  • The educational equivalent of Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Significant experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management
  • Experience with change management related to ERP systems or other large enterprise system deployments

  • Knowledge of current technology and infrastructure environments
