Department of Biological Science Core Facility


Responsible for preparation of RNAseq and DNAseq libraries for next-generation sequencing on Illumina platforms, including MiSeq, HiSeq, and NovaSeq. Utilize state-of-the-art methods and help evaluate emerging technologies for library preparation. Involved in all aspects of library construction and evaluation, which may include experimental design, DNA/RNA extraction, DNA shearing and size selection, indexed library amplification, and quality control testing. Coordinate with FSU Translational Lab to submit libraries and documentation, review sequencing results, and provide troubleshooting expertise. May also participate in a variety of other FSU Biology Core molecular biology projects.


Academic Master's degree or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.
Experience with next-generation sequencing library preparation.


Doctoral degree in an appropriate area of specialization or Master’s degree with five years of research experience in molecular research.
Broad background in molecular biology or related discipline.
Extensive hands-on experience with instrumentation used in library construction, including Covaris, Pippen, Bioanalyzer and thermocyclers.
Experience operating and programming automated liquid handling systems (Biomek 4000).
Familiarity with next-generation sequencing bioinformatics.
