The D'Amore-McKim School of Business is looking for a highly-motivated and talented individual to fill the role of Technical Support Specialist. The Technical Support Specialist works as a member of the Instructional Design Group by supporting instructional design, faculty development and course maintenance responsibilities in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Associate’s degree and minimum three years’ experience supporting educational technology and instructional design in an academic or professional development setting. Demonstrated interest in using technology to promote faculty productivity and positive learning outcomes.
Experience in administering a learning management system (LMS), Blackboard preferred.
Experience in presenting to professional audiences, communicating technical concepts in non-technical language.
Ability to think critically about “fit” and relevance of specific technologies to teaching and learning tasks in a 21st century business classroom.
Detail-oriented in proofreading and organizing tasks. Demonstrated ability to develop rapport with subject matter experts and faculty, including a courteous and professional manner, diplomacy and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
Familiarity with education technologies that promote collaboration, interactivity, active and reflective learning, and critical thinking skills. Familiarity with adaptive learning platforms, gamification and learning analytics a plus.
Examples of the following tools that candidates must demonstrate familiarity with or an ability to learn: Adobe desktop publishing tools (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator); audio and video editing (Adobe Premiere, Audacity, Movavi); elearning authoring platforms (Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline); student response systems (Poll Everywhere, Turning Technologies, Top Hat); web conferencing tools (BlueJeans, Blackboard Collaborate, Collaborate Ultra); interactive videos (PlayPosit); tests and surveys (Qualtrics, Blackboard Tests); website content management systems (WordPress, Filezilla, Dreamweaver).
