Job Summary/Basic Function:

  • Helps to ensure that museum visitors receive a positive experience from the first point of contact.
  • Provides information about Spindletop and Gladys City in person, by email and over the phone.
  • Sells gift shop merchandise, takes admissions, and completes daily sales and deposit paperwork.
  • Coordinates cash handling procedures, including maintaining cash drawers, reviewing daily paperwork, making change orders, and collecting deposit bags from university cashier's office.
  • Coordinates rentals of the Caroline Room, including booking, management, setup and evaluation.
  • Manages gift shop operations, including ordering, accounts payables, sales, merchandising, pricing, maintenance, and promotion.
  • Assists director with group tour bookings, including scheduling, guiding and evaluating.
  • Works with director to ensure that both interior and exterior portions of the visitor center are well-maintained, including, but not limited to, parking lots and grounds, gift shop, Caroline Room, storage, kitchen, restrooms and walkways.
  • Assist with group tour promotions, as needed.
  • Assists with special events and facility rentals, as needed.
  • Attends quarterly staff meeting.
  • With other duties as assigned.

    Salary: $10.00/hr.

    Work Hours: Tueday-Sunday: 10 am to 5pm, Work Hours/Schedule Flexible
