Assistant Professor in Biology

Job description

The Department of Biology at Georgia Southwestern State University invites applications in Physiology/Developmental/Cell Biology for a full-time, tenure track, faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. We seek a faculty member that will embrace our campus’s diversity and our strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. Primary teaching responsibilities will be vertebrate physiology and developmental biology along with lower level biology courses for majors and non-majors. The successful candidate will also be responsible for oversight of the Pre-Med Program including advisement of Pre-health professional students (pre-medical, pre-dentistry, pre-veterinarian) and will be expected to mentor students in undergraduate research. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in campus culture, contribute to a highly collaborative department, and continue in his/her professional development. Teaching responsibilities will include 12 contact hours/semester.

 

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. at the time of hire in biology or a related discipline. Teaching experience at the college level. Demonstrated strong commitment to undergraduate education. Demonstrated content expertise or teaching experience in the field of vertebrate physiology or developmental biology.
