The University of Illinois College of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the country, with an accomplished and influential faculty, a smart and collegial student body, and a strong alumni network. In addition to its full-time faculty, the College of Law regularly makes use of distinguished lawyers as adjunct professors, particularly in its upper-division elective courses. The College of Law is currently accepting applications for adjunct faculty positions. Though it will consider applications from lawyers in all subject-matter areas, it expects to have particular needs in:
  • Negotiation/Mediation Strategy
  • Trial Advocacy
  • Appellate Advocacy/Moot Court
  • Federal Courts
  • CFI: Counseling, Fact Investigation, Interviewing
  • Real Estate Transactions
  • Externships
  • Immigration
  • White-Collar Crime

These are non-tenure track appointments between five and ten percent time. Each may cover the fall semester (8/16 to 12/31), the spring semester (1/1 to 5/15), or both semesters. Pay will be commensurate with workload and experience. These positions are not eligible for University benefits. Most classes meet in the Law Building in Champaign once or twice per week for one to two hours; some meet during the day and others in the evening. The College occasionally has positions in its spring semester Chicago Program as well.

Applicants must possess a J.D. and have at least five years of practice experience in the subject area in which they will be teaching. Prior teaching experience is preferred.
