University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks a Visiting Assistant Director of Career Services in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES). This is a full-time, visiting, non-tenured, academic professional position. The starting date will be as soon as possible after the close of the search. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The position may become regular at a later date.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific to this Position
  • Manage on-campus recruiting services and job/internship postings through online software application operations (currently Handshake) for the College of ACES Career Services Office
  • Interpret Handshake data related to employer activity (career fairs, on-campus recruiting, etc.) and student engagement (mock interview, career fairs, etc.)
  • Coordinate internship and experiential learning opportunities for all students with emphasis on international students
  • Plan and coordinate on-campus recruiting services and programs such as ACES 101 Resume Night, employer information sessions and special events for students to engage with employers, explore career options, and develop career readiness competencies
  • Serve on Handshake @ Illinois users group and other campus committees related to meeting the recruiting needs of employers
  • Cultivate relationships and maintain contact with employers, alumni, and other professionals who want to recruit Illinois students, including occasional travel to visit target employer
  • Develop career-related announcements including daily tweets and update ACES Career Services websites as needed
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to career fairs, on-campus recruiting, and mock interviews.

Common to all Career Service Professionals

  • Coach students regarding career exploration and decision making, preparation for graduate/professional school, and finding jobs and internships
  • Engage diverse student populations and offices that serve underrepresented students
  • Assess services and programs to determine student learning outcomes, make evidence-informed decisions, and facilitate continuous improvement
  • Support ACES departments and offices and maintain relationships with campus partners
  • Create and deliver presentations for a variety of audiences, including students, families, campus partners, and external colleagues
  • Contribute to the design, creation, and maintenance of print and online resources
  • Serve on ACES, The Career Center, and/or campus committees, task forces, work groups, and advisory committees


Position Requirements and Qualifications:

Education:

Required: Bachelor's degree

Preferred: Master's degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education administration, human resources, or ACES related field

Experience:

Required:
  • Experience organizing programs and events
  • Experience providing high quality customer service


Preferred:
  • Two years of previous campus experience
  • Experience leading teams and projects
  • Experience with Handshake@Illinois application
  • Experience leading, developing, and presenting programs and workshops
  • Experience developing and maintaining professional relationships
  • Experience planning, implementing, managing, and evaluating programs and events
  • Experience supervising and motivating others to achieve organizational goals
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Experience providing one-on-one counseling, advising, or coaching


Knowledge Requirements:

Required:
  • Demonstrated understanding of diverse populations and knowledge of cultural differences
  • Adept at current technology platforms including website applications, data bases and MS Suite
  • Ability to assess processes and determine optimal practices
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple work priorities and details
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred:
  • Demonstrated desire to work with college students
  • Knowledge of career development, occupational trends, and career planning resources
