The University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking applicants for a tenure-eligible faculty position in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia. The candidate should have expertise in cancer epidemiology with experience in risk factor and prognostic research incorporating genomic data. The applicants will ideally have an advanced degree in epidemiology (e.g., MD and MPH, or PhD). The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the Department's program of teaching and research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and sustain independent research funding. Applicants with the following skills and experience are preferred:
- experience preparing grant applications as a member of a research team;
- experience in the analysis of large epidemiologic study data;
- experience working as a member of a collaborative research team to develop initial research plans, analyze data, and prepared manuscripts for publication;
- experience with coordinating the planning and analysis requirements of multiple grants and/or contract funded projects.
Successful candidates will have: Ph.D. in Epidemiology, outstanding leadership and communication abilities, ability to work well with faculty, staff, and students as well as external faculty, staff, and contacts. Commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of the University is necessary. Proven ability to build and expand relationships with others and have a history of service oriented leadership with high levels of integrity, honesty and commitment is a must.
