Posting Summary:
The Department of Religious Studies at the University of Virginia is seeking a Podcast Producer to support two programs, the Global Religion Lab and the Religion, Race, and Democracy Lab, with all aspects of developing, creating and managing several new related podcast series. These podcasts seek to bring scholarship on religion, race, and democracy to the public. The incumbent will assist the Lab Co-Directors with developing podcast episodes and series, liaising with hosting services, and marketing research associated with the Lab's podcasts. The Global Religion Lab and the Religion, Race, and Democracy Lab operate like start-ups within the University of Virginia. That means the Producer should be comfortable with all aspects of production, from conception to completion, and be able to coach and collaborate with new entrants into audio.

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree and experience with Hindenburg Journalist DAW.

The following are also required: at least 2 years of experience in audio production; familiarity with podcast production and the podcast industry, with particular focus on new and emerging podcasts and networks; ability to collaborate, pay attention to detail, and ability to adhere to deadlines; excellent written and verbal communications skills; expertise with studio and field recording technology. Skill in sound design and knowledge in the Humanities in general (and the academic study of religion) are preferred.

The successful candidate will be immersed in the liberal arts and the humanities; digitally-minded and experienced in audio storytelling; and an expert communicator, with demonstrated skills in team building, and in navigating complex internal and external relationships.

This is a one year position with the possibility of an additional extension of one year. This is a restricted position and extension is contingent upon performance and the continued availability of funding.

The University of Virginia is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer. Women, minorities, veterans and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
