Basic Functions: Provide leadership and development of institutional research, institutional effectiveness, outcomes assessment and evaluation to promote Denison's mission and strategic goals.

Essential Job Functions: Oversee and coordinate a comprehensive program of external reporting, internal reporting and analysis, and survey administration in support of institutional assessment, planning and decision making. Design and conduct both ad hoc and ongoing, longitudinal institutional research projects. These may be specialized studies at the request of a senior administrator, trend analysis on existing data, or comparative studies with peer institutions. Develop and publish annual college data reports, such as the Common Data Set and Fact Book, in easily accessible formats on the college web site. Design, monitor, and supervise program assessment systems and methods to measure and track enrollment and persistence, standards of academic progress, academic success and non-academic program outcomes, in keeping with accreditation standards. Support the college reaccreditation process and other external reviews as appropriate. Prepare and deliver oral and written presentations for internal and external groups. Maintain knowledge of current issues within the college and volunteer to provide information or conduct studies that could shed light on complex questions Serve the entire campus as a key, central resource for information and analysis in efforts to address institutional priorities, assessment of institutional performance, improve institutional outcomes, and promote the strategic priorities.. Address institutional research efforts while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and college statutes, policies, laws, and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in a quantitatively oriented field, such as applied statistics, economics, quantitative sociology or epidemiology, with at least three year's relevant IR experience in higher ed. Knowledge of practices, procedures, and techniques involved in the design, development, and implementation of projects, surveys, studies in institutional evaluation, planning, research and decision making are critical. Must have an understanding of institutional effectiveness and the role data analytics plays, as well as demonstrated experience in research methodology, descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, survey design, administration and analysis. Knowledge of database management and software applications related to research interpretation and analysis and experience with integrated databases (such as Ellucian's Banner) including the use of query languages as well as an aptitude to work independently as well as part of a team is mandatory. Excellent analytical and communication skills with special attention to interaction with a diverse population are essential. Ability to proactively identify areas of assessment and work independently. Must be able to report information in meaningful and audience-specific formats.

Preferred Qualifications: Increasingly responsible experience in the design and implementation of planning, research, and assessment activities in a higher education or similar environment. A Ph.D., Ed.D., or A.B.D. in a related field with at least 6 months in Institutional Research or transferable experience is highly preferred.
